  1. Top of the fifth I turn to my friends behind me and say “man… 3-0 feels like 10-0”. Once they started hitting the place went nuts. From the fifth inning on every Tiger half inning the crowd stood and cheered them on. Hearing the crowd chant “Javy! Javy!” Before his HR was incredible. He and Riley’s HR’s will be legendary. This seriously might have been the best game in Comerica Park since 2013. Their performance redeemed a lot from September. The fans deserved this. I don’t fault the fans for booing when they did. But they turned it around quick.

  2. Jay’s eliminate the Yankees. Game 5 start time for Tigers-Mariners will be 8:08pm ET.

  3. But...the Tiger's offense has out scored the Mariner's offense in this series 18 to 16. Maybe we should be talking about how the Mariners' offense is having more trouble scoring runs.

  4. What we need is for Ford to talk over the name rights. But obviously they wouldn't use the Ford name as Ford Field already exists. So instead they'd use their luxury brand, and so it'd become: Lincoln Park

  6. Blue Jays up 5-1 in the 8th. I am hoping for a Tigers night game on Friday. It's always nice to see the Yankees lose too.

  7. Interesting enough, both teams have almost identical batting lines: Detroit: .217 BA, .285 OBP, .362 slug, .647 OPS Seattle: .219 BA, .285 OBP, .387 slug, .672 OPS And surprisingly enough, both teams have 38K and 12 BB. So yes, the Tigers are K'ing at an crazy rate, but so too are the M's. The difference in slugging is the Mariners have 2 more HR (6), while the Tigers have 3 more 2B (8). Both teams have 30 hits, the Tigers have 1 more AB. In other words, Both teams are performing almost identical.

  8. This is not a peace deal. It’s a temporary truce tied to a ridiculously disproportionate prisoner exchange done only to try and win a ridiculous prize to boost his narcissistic need for ridiculous constant ego worship. This deal bolsters Hamas and gives them much needed reinforcements to keep their terror operations going strong for years to come. More than 250 violent terrorists serving lengthy or even life sentences will be released. The next few Sinwars are certainly in this group and will soon be plotting the next attacks. Hamas will never hand over their weapons or permanently close the tunnel network. This truce will fall apart quickly with no cease fire deal and will lead to an increase in violence for years to come. Hamas was on the ropes and close to going down but Trump rang the bell to save them.

  14. The Athletic had a story on what's happening here. Not necessarily the Tigers but other teams and pitchers. It's not the signs, but the pitchers tipping the pitch. Usually something subtle in the pitchers movement, his set uo, glove angle or even the way the catcher sets up. The increasing numbers of cameras around the ballpark and multitude of things like iPads and computers in the dugout or just outside. The broadcast during game 2 alluded to Naylor closely studying the Tigers pitchers when he wasn't batting, but watching closely. Maybe their not just watching opposing pitchers, but also opposing batters for subtle signs, above and beyond already noted tendencies. edit, here's the article https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6691711/2025/10/06/mlb-pitch-tipping-paranoia-camera-ipads-pitch-clock/ I forget who the Tiger batter was yesterday who grounded out to first base relatively early in the game collided with Naylor during a particularly hard groundout. The batter knocked Naylor's hat off in the process. For a second it looked like there might have been blows.

  15. The Tigers took on a ton of salary at the deadline. They were cheap from a prospect standpoint, but still added about $13M, which is pretty significant when you consider that is 1/3 of the season. You can rag on that deadline for a lot of things, but cheap from a payroll standpoint isn't one.

  19. You have to understand this. I forgot to play Centerfield by John Fogerty yesterday on the air (because I did not know when the game would start). I played it today - just as the game was starting - and like the 2 wins in Cleveland and the Game 1 win in Seattle -- they won. I will absolutely play it on Friday evening.

  20. First preseason game started out really rough. Turnover, turnover, turnover. Defense picked up in the second and they took over, hanging 50 points on the Grizz in that quarter alone. Cade - He's ready to start the season. I think he made every type of shot imaginable in just 1/2 of play. Ivey - People are saying Ivey looked "rusty". I'd buy that if he didn't just look like the same Jaden Ivey to me. Some exciting plays, but just as many terrible turnovers, passes that are too hot, bad off-ball defense and rotations, and dying on the first screen every time when he's on-ball defending. Harris - Looked like the solid vet he is. Thompson - He and Holland were a big part of the run in the second with their defense, but the offense is still a work in progress. Good to see they're giving him on-ball reps though. Great way to keep him on the floor even when he can't space the court. Holland - If that three ball remains at 33% or higher, that's a great jump for a 20 year old sophomore. It's the key to him and Ausar sharing the court and playing that "9 to 5" defense. Stew - Shot a couple threes in this one after saying that he's going to be shooting more of them this year. Pistons badly need a big that can space, especially in lineups with Ron and Ausar so this is key for the Pistons. Jenkins - I said it last year and I'll say it again: I'd rather have him as the 3rd string PG than trying to jam Sasser into that role. He's bigger, plays better defense, is a better driver, a better passer, and plays with more energy. Obviously Sasser is a better shooter, but Jenkins can knock down the open catch and shoot 3 where Sasser needs to do an NBA2K dribble move and step-back before taking his shot every time. Robinson - Looks like he'll be a solid Beasley replacement and offer better passing and rebounding along the way, while being just as terrible on defense. LeVert - Let's not talk about it.

  21. I think Skubal will be open to a return. And I believe the Tigers will make a reasonable effort to retain him. However, I think what he’ll command and get will be unreasonable and he’ll ultimately be overpaid by someone else. It won’t be because the Tigers are cheap (always a lazy, false narrative) or because Skubal was greedy. Just business.

  23. So brainwashed and unable to think for yourself. Anything anti-trump is immediately labeled left and discarded. I’m not the left. I’ve never used the term genocide in reference to Gaza. I’m anti king. I believe in “of the people, by the people, for the people” and that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  24. Skubal pitched very well in his last start against the M's. The M's haven't done anything to 'solve' Skubal. The Tigers just need to score, which they would need to do in any game. The Skubal vs the Ms narrative is a nothing burger. EDIT: ditto to LordS

  29. It's funny how the names of a stadium can change but old timers don't change. My late father always called Tiger Stadium....Briggs Stadium. He grew up a mile away from Briggs Stadium and in his mind...it was always Briggs Stadium, not Tiger Stadium. Any time I corrected him, he would just smile and say "yeah, OK" So to us new generation of old timers, it'll always be Comerica Park. Go ahead, rename it and correct us when we call it Comerica. Yeah, OK. 😆

  30. I will try to pull the Pistons info out. They have Detroit 5th in the east behind Cleveland, New York, Orlando, and Atlanta. 80% picked OKC to win the Finals. Ausar is T2nd for having a breakout season with Victor and Miller. Amen is #1 Best perimeter defender in the league? Ausar is 6th with 2% of the vote Most versatile defender. Ausar is in the "Also receiving votes" section. Best coach at managing/motivating players, and which coach has the best defensive schemes? JB is in the also receiving vote section for both Which team is the most fun to watch? Pistons in the receiving vote section Which team has the most promising young core? Pistons T3rd. The defending champs are #1 and double the votes of #2 which is crazy. Most athletic player. They only list 2 and Ausar is in the receiving votes section Fastest with the ball. Ivey received votes Best at moving without the ball? Steph got 90% of the votes. Robinson received votes. Most versatile player? Cade received votes

  35. That’s fair game as far as I’m concerned. That’s on us to tighten up. Once teams are using tech and stuff to do it is when it crosses the line. Props to Naylor if he spotted something with the pitcher tipping.

  36. Normally I would say NFL is king and they won't touch it with a ten-foot pole, but the 4:05 game on FOX is Titans @ Raiders. If they had Bengals/Packers or Bucs/49ers it would be a different story, but both of those are CBS games. They'll either go 8:08 anyway, air Titans/Raiders normally, and try to squeeze some juice out of Sunday Night Football from NBC, or they'll go 4:08 and play market-ball with FOX and FS1 between Titans/Raiders and Tigers/Jays. I think they probably err on the side of the latter.

  37. I do agree on the first account. I agree Chis Ilitch is not cheap per say. I just think he does not personally get too involved like his father did. Actually, I wish he would say 'lets get so & so' and give SHarris a push if he does not already. Regardless of what happens in tomorrow's game against Seattle, there is a 'core' already there that is 27 and under years of age ex Greene, Tork, Keith, Dingler, Meadows, Olsen, Jobe, Melton, etc. and a few a bit older Mize, Skubal, Carp, etc. No need to 'rebuild' here. Simply add a few quality MLB types that are productive 'now'. Maybe even keep or make offers (QO) to Torres, Flaherty (who sought Detroit themselves after they did not receive the long term deals they initially wanted) and add 2 players ex Bregman or Bichette, and another. Then with that add the next young farm group slowly over a couple years ex Clark, McGonigle, Brecino, Rainey, etc. SHarris needs to step up. To stop focusing on aging retread projects (Meada, Boyd, Cobb, Morton) and/or AAAA type middle INFs (Kennedy, Sogard, Maton, Rizzo, etc.) who are fine only AFTER/in conjunction with actual quality type player additions. He should stop talking about a 'core' (we have that after his initial public renderings about such a couple years ago) and stop using the 'kick the can' down the road mentality for the next farm group. Harris needs to add quality for Now and the Future. IMHO, he has not shown this GM bility. The knack to negotiate a trade for that type of player or a FA signing. He did not do it last off season after a playoff run nor this past trade deadline (exception Finnegan, 1 in 5 players he acquired and I was mildly surprised he did make attempts with other organizations). Harris had a team with the best record in baseball, a very good manager and a real chance to win. No excuses. With all said, I will say again, Harris has done well with many other aspects: player development, facility upgrades, additions to MiLB staffing, scouting, overseas facilities, nutrition and physiology/recovery awareness, etc. Maybe he should be more 'the head of player development' or bring in a competent GM to work deals. Who is Jeff Greenberg? does he work for Jimmy John's field? ; ) Go Tigs!

  41. I have been tracking my home electrical bill stuff for several years. Even to the point of reading my meter everyday for a year - just to check. I buy power from the best available for usually 12 months at a time. Saves a little money, although not much as I have a small and efficient home. The actual electric I use is usually a little less than 40% of my bill. The other 60% is transmission, distribution, and customer charge (always 10 bucks). I ran across this article with tells you more than you will ever need to know about how this stuff works. Very long but very impressive and informative. What’s Happening to Wholesale Electricity Prices?

  42. As long as he doesn't get hurt by this time next year, Skubal is going to get good and paid for 2027 and beyond. But if he can put a shutdown performance and an LDS-clinching win tomorrow on his resume, that by itself might add a hundred million to the bottom line.

  44. I thought I knew everything about the Fidrych '76 season but Pearlman pointed out a couple of big things I missed. I didn't realize he had made a 1-inning appearance in relief against Baltimore before his first start vs. Cleveland. I didn't realize he had drawn 36k vs the Angels prior to the famous Monday night game. I got emotional watching that video. I have said it on this board before but I'll say it again: June 28, 1976 was hands-down the most memorable day of my childhood and if a time machine could bring me back to one moment in time that would be it. Last day of 3rd grade was the Friday before. I was turning 9 two days later. We held my birthday party in the lower deck in left field at that Yankees-Tigers televised game. Brought a few friends, one with whom I remain close friends to this day, gradually drifted apart from the other two but still remember them well. A few close family members came along, a couple who are still alive and important in my life today, a couple who have since passed away. Whenever I see the replay of that game and whenever they pan to the crowd, I keep hoping that I'll spot our group on camera even though I've seen the footage multiple times. I'll never forget the curtain call moment, because those were rare back then and we didn't even know for sure whether Fidrych was hearing about the cheers and would come back out - the moment he popped back was honestly as exciting to me as the final out of the '84 Series.
