Mr.TaterSalad
Um, wow, I did not see that coming. They are really doubling down in the secondary after last year. I really would have liked to have seen an IOL here. Oh well.
1984Echoes
Well... They are NOT messing around with the secondary... !!! Time for it to IMPROVE. Like... NOW!!!

CMRivdogs
From NFL.com Quote Rakestraw plays the game with good physicality and a competitive tilt that defensive back coaches will enjoy. He’s strong but not as big or fast as teams usually like when picking within the first three rounds of the draft. However, he’s hard-nosed in press and has the body control and anticipation to play a sticky brand of man coverage over the first two levels. He’s quicker than fast and does a nice job of breaking quickly on throws in front of him with well-timed challenges to knock the ball free. He intercepted only one pass during his college career, which could be a concern, but his willingness and toughness in run support work in his favor. Rakestraw could become a good backup with eventual starter potential in the right scheme.

Tenacious D
Our division has doubled down on QB and WR, so feel much better to stack our pass defense. Similar to Branch last year, taking advantage of a player who has inexplicably dropped. Great value.
Motown Bombers
The Eagles doubled up on defensive backs too. The Lions doubled up on defensive tackles in 2021. Had they not, they wouldn't have gotten McNeil.
Hongbit
Jamal Charles with the most viral moment of the draft so far

Motown Bombers
CB was a position of need when they had Sutton so losing Sutton created even less depth. Davis is also in the last year of his contract.
1984Echoes
Rakestraw profiles best as a Nickel... So whenever he's ready to see the field there... We'll also see more Safety time for Branch...
MichiganCardinal
I wouldn’t be surprised if Brad isn’t done yet tonight.

RedRamage
I think you're all looking at it wrong. Brad (mostly) don't care about position. The draft is about loading up on promising talent not matter where they play. FA is for filling holes. Draft picks, to him, are about trying to hit homeruns every time he gets to the plate. He's not going to lay down a bunt to move the runners over. Brad is not going to settle for lesser player who might slot in somewhere better if he genuinely thinks the other guy is a better player.

Yes. Won’t be shocked if we go and sign a WR in free agency. Isn’t Tyler Boyd still unsigned?

Motown Bombers
The Lions have 9 picks next year. They could use one to jump back in to the 3rd round.

Jason_R
This is the pick of a guy who DNGAF. He is very secure in his status with the front office, he is very secure in his relationship with the coaching staff, and he is very secure in the roster he has constructed. All of these allow him to take a player at a position they don’t “need” but who fits their player profile perfectly.
