Christian Walker does not come across as a reliable narrator. Would not be surprised at all if he did a 180 (multiple 180s) over the next few weeks in order to just get more attention - from anyone. But he certainly sums up what I think of Hershel.

I could go either way with it.... the idea of the wants and desires of a politician (or in this case, a wannabe politician) running counter to the desires of children or family of politicians seems entirely believable. Especially in the case of Walker, who by all accounts seems to be an odious person in real life.

I think how the urban Atlanta and suburban Atlanta turnout and votes are going in Georgia may be somewhat of a bell weather as to how the night is going to go for either party. They have two competitive races with the Senate and Governors races. Urban and Suburban Atlanta can possibly help tell us about which voters are turning out and who are they breaking for because it has a diverse mix of college educated, voters of color, black voters, working class voters, suburban woman, suburban white woman, MAGA white men, and young voters in the 18-35 demographic. The only thing I worry about there is the football angle. People may just end up voting for Walker because they remember him as a football God in their state and thus making that Senate race less of a bell weather because of the unique status of one of the candidates.

Georgia has always scared me because, like a lot of states in the south, it doesn't have a huge history of crossover voting - it tends to be more straight ticket voting as opposed to split tickets. And Kemp, for better or worse, is likely to win reelection regardless of the Senate race. Having said that, the state is changing.... it's become more diverse, especially in Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs, and they generally nominate better candidates than Walker.

And the Walker stuff, while it won't turn off most who would vote for him, in a race this close and where a runoff was always a likely result, the allegations really could make a difference on the margins and could be the difference between a Walker win, a runoff, or a Warnock win. The margins coming into this week were that close, every little bit matters.

Regarding the federal elections.... do you think we'll know early on which way it's going to go or will it be a nail biter?  I think we will know fairly soon.  It won't be an all nighter.  Some swing districts in the east will tell us the story and what the polls were doing.

i'll need some kind of info on key swing districts though.  Too often the pundits will just say things like "IL-06 went R" like I'm supposed to know it's competitive.

I think there will be dozens, maybe even over 100, elections at the federal level that will get held up for days or weeks while the Republicans who lose reject the results. There will be hundreds more at state and local levels in just about every state in the country. It's going to be madness.

I don't because of the drama.  I have very nice neighbors who are very catholic and pro life.  Very good people.  But that's their calling.  They told me they were surprised when I had my biden sign up.   Of course nobody has offered me a sign either.  I had to drive out to the East side for my Biden sign in 2020 and was more than happy to "get out" and do it.

But one person with nothing to do can go around and beg people to put up a sign.  Whitmer supporters are busy working.

There aren't many signs for anyone in my neighborhood now but I'm in an opposite boat.  I put Biden sign in my yard so my neighbors didn't think I was a shy Trumper (as if those exist).

I have a Hertel sign up after a canvasser came through.  I honestly don't know a bunch about him, nor his opponent, but when in doubt I'll be voting democrat for now.  I did like that his campaign flyer/website talks about bi-partisanship and in just doing a quick read of it, you wouldn't know if he's a democrat or republican.  I appreciate running on a platform of wanting to do the job, rather than a platform of the other side is evil.

Only one other house with signs in the neighborhood which includes one for a school board candidate that on his sign promises to 'teach the atrocities of socialism'.

Oh my...

He also thinks that if you don’t vote for him, you “won’t be redeemed”.
Well, I’ll guess Jesus wouldn’t exactly agree with that message, but what do I know.

=====

quote: "Vote for the people on the left like the guy I'm running against, Sen. Warnock, you're not going to have a chance to be redeemed," he added. "He's a minister and he don't [sic] believe in redemption. Right now, they're trying to destroy America. They're trying to destroy Georgia."

If it wasn't for the fact that this down played football 35 years ago at UGA he'd have nothing. I was all aboard the he can win because he's a football God in that state, but now I'm begging to question that. I would like to believe this turns off enough independent voters that it torpedoes his chances now. The hardcore MAGA crowd will still vote for him because as evidenced by the Roy Moore election in Alabama, they'll even vote for a child predator. But the swing voter and moderate Republicans that do exist in Georgia, I'd like to think we've finally crossed a line with them once they find this stuff out.

Yeah, a lot of pundits keep bringing up (and not without reason) Scott DeJarlais, but he's in a safe district; this race, OTOH, has been close enough where marginal movement can make a lot of difference.

There's still a tail risk that Walker can win, but gotta think all of this is pretty harmful to his camp pain.

So Tudor was up in Gaylord campaigning. A town of about 4,000 that's ruby red. Sound campaign strategy.

Gets her talked about and hopefully (for her) paves the way to a career in punditry on a network such as the Overthrow America Network.

I don't know what to say anymore. I truly do not have words for how far this Herschel Walker situation has fallen.

There is a certain consistency in the mindset though. "I say I love my son, therefore I do. I say I am a Christain, therefore I am a good person". There is a certain mind set for which to profess something is to call it into being, regardless of the emptiness of the profession. You can guess where in American society you are most likely to find it....preached.

Well it makes perfect sense that the fundamentalist Christian right and MAGA would support him since they support the biggest empty suit of them all in Trump.
