  2. BTW, i’ve been in a bunch of NATO cities this last week and i will say, NATO is solid and against Russia all the way. Actually it’s shocking. But genocide tends to focus the mind.

  3. They will hope and pray that Erod opts out and wipe their hands of him for good. He and his agent are not reliable enough to count on. I am not interested in bringing him back.

  4. I read that this morning and yeah that seems to be the general theme to that article. I did find it interesting that GMs were complaining about the price being too high but it seems the Dodgers were willing to pay it so other than the fact E-Rod's agent or E-Rod himself messed up the deal it sounds like Harris held his ground and was going to get a deal he wanted. So in all honesty that makes me a bit more confident with him in the driver's seat even though it obviously didn't work out this time he had a price and stuck to it.

  8. yeah the spamming of memes needs to stop. Engage all you want but doing nothing but posting pictures and tweets is not engaging. It's littering and does not add any value to the site. It's pollution. You need to stop or else you will be stopped.

  9. You need to stop using our threads for your constant dump of crap stories and your ridiculous large font and today - large red font. Today could be the day you push the wrong button. Then, I honestly don’t give a **** to whom you cry/complain to. If the powers that be want to pick you over me, I can live with that too. So, go ahead, try me.

  11. Yeah, I'm not down with the "Harris had to get something for E-Rod" argument. Well, no, not if what's being offered is Dawal Lugo 2.0, and after E-Rod pulled his stunt other GMs would likely reassess his value to their team and adjust their offers accordingly. I didn't like that Avila gave good players away for garbage, and I'm not going to criticize Harris for not doing the same.

  12. I don't know that getting something for him was his job. His job is to improve the ballclub and if someone else wasn't offering something he felt improved the ballclub then it's his job to not make that move. "Improve the ballclub" is a broad term that can mean both player personnel and business considerations. Keeping a good player on the team isn't a bad outcome. Trading ERod was an objective assigned by fans and media but not necessarily by his actual bosses.

  15. Those comments from the other GMs are sour grapes.... if even just one team is willing to pay the price, that validates the price IMO

  16. There is one particular criteria that I require girls to meet in the wake of the past few years that I am betting Hollywood types see eye to eye with me on. Those Hollywood Actresses may be like Canada in 2021 where Jake wasn't going to be allowed to enter if he wasn't injured. I think Rogers is getting waaaaaaaaaayyyyy overrated in this thread. Anyways, came here to say Rosenthal had a good article up today and his sourcing seems to point at Mato yanking the football at the last minute.

  18. My favorite all-time Yankee player was Thurman Munson, who died on this day (August 2nd) in 1979. I remember where I was when I heard the news… and how devastated I felt. I loved his fierce personality. I just loved him, period.

  22. So according to B-Ref he is 2.1 years younger than average for A-ball just a little concerning this being his second time through the league. He had a torrid July(.270/.466/.571) but April-June was rough. To give you some context he has only hit against pitchers younger than him in 8 AB's this season. He definitely has an eye for the ball even with a .167 BA for the year his OBP is .384. I know he struggled with some injuries last year and he missed some time in May which could have also been an injury. I think next year will be very telling for him. I would like to see them push him to High-A if he finishes the year off strong.

  23. they could have kept him in Complex league, but FSL is age appropriate; absolutely brutal April May and June. has really turned it around though; season stats may not look that bad if he can keep it going

  24. Harris wasn't, but if Menzin is still the #2, he was. As were Hinch and Fetter. Harris wasn't blind to what happened last year.

  25. We could prob find a stop gap for next year but Erod is still young enough that he should still be effective for atleast the next 3 years and since we don't have a ton of promising arms on the farm having that steady effective veteran in the rotation is something we're gonna need in the coming years so instead of going out and paying 15-20 million every year on guy(s) you hope can fill that role we could just have him for then 4 years at that same rate and not worry about it. Also even with that extension his contract wouldn't be totally out of line so we should have no problem trading him if we ever feel the need to..... assuming he wouldn't block it again.

  26. Because the Dodgers were heavily involved in the JV sweepstakes (and presumably would not have traded for ERod if they had won the JV sweepstakes), I'm not sure how easy this would have been to get done earlier in this case.

Jim Jarvis was moved to Lakeland as well. 08/03/23 SS Kevin McGonigle assigned to FCL Tigers. 08/03/23 RHP Carlos Lequerica assigned to FCL Tigers. 08/03/23 RHP Andrew Dunford assigned to FCL Tigers. 08/03/23 RHP Donye Evans assigned to FCL Tigers. 08/03/23 Lakeland Flying Tigers sent SS Peyton Graham on a rehab assignment to FCL Tigers. 08/03/23 RHP Jatnk Diaz assigned to FCL Tigers. 08/03/23 RHP Luke Stofel assigned to FCL Tigers.

  35. yup. dude signed a big contract with you and then disappears for half the season. he couldnt work out his "family issues" before he got a huge contract? of course not. then he backtracks at the last minute and screws you out of a trade. he's a flake and injury prone and unreliable. no thanks. good luck in your future somewhere else.

  36. Everyone remembers the Martinez trade, which was atrocious and haunted him the rest of his tenure. From that point on I'd say, in all fairness, that his deadline deals were ok. Verlander yielded a catcher who this season ranks in the top half of regulars at his position in RC+. Getting an impact player would have been better, but as others on this board have noted rarely do these deadline deals yield that kind of talent. The other 2017 trade netted two pretty good players for practically nothing. Avila and Wilson for Paredes and Candy. In 2019 he traded Castellanos and received Lange. Not bad, considering at the time of the trade Castellanos was slumping (95 OPS+ in July) and had a rep as a bad fielder (well earned). Later deadline trades: Greene for Wentz, who may still prove useful, Martin (with his 97 OPS+ at the time) for Castro, who, hey, is still in the league, Norris, badly damaged at the time, for Olson, who may prove more than useful, and Fulmer, for Long-Gibson, who is pitching well at AA. Yes, the Fiers trade in 2018 netted nothing, and I know I'm missing a few other clunkers. But considering the underwhelming assets Avila had to trade, I'd say he performed ok at the trade deadline, after the Martinez mess. He failed as a GM for many reasons, but trade deadline deals were the least of his problems and maybe weren't really a problem.

  40. The fact that our "sort of" GM did not cave and accept less than he wanted is a good thing for the future. Who knows, maybe E-Rod stays after all but even if he's gone, it's better to not accept 3 guys who'll never make a difference. Hold firm "I want one of these guys or no deal". Other team says "How about these guys instead?" "Nope". If that is what happened yesterday, then in the future (next year) other teams will know he means it. I mean, they aren't contending next year, even if the division is weak again. They'll probably make it interesting for a few weeks at the end this year, get us all riled up for next season and then start out something like 6-20 again and never catch up. Seems to be their thing now. It's all about '25 !
