I think I may ask my local school system to ban the Bible from libraries. Stories of infidelity, incest, murder, mayham. Nothing under age children should be reading or even learning about.3 points

I was just thinking that to move Bigbie up the choices were Meadows to Det or cut Witherspoon2 points

Yeah, I don't think Harris is getting enough credit for taking the arrows on this. Obviously some will come back and say "he shouldn't get credit, that's his job".... OTOH, his predecessor was fine with making excuses.2 points

Like...Bigbie, man...you're not a prospect, OK? You're just going to have to learn how to deal with it.2 points

GOP referendum in OHIO to limit the public's ability to pass future referenda is going down in flames. The immediate result is that Ohio's harsh legislative abortion bans are going to be repealed by the public in the next general election. We can also hope that the reaction against this GOP overplay may push the state back toward the middle where it has traditionally been, but that is more doubtful. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/08/us/ohio-election-issue-1-results.html2 points

Zack Short has quietly been pretty good for us this year, he's currently sitting at 1.1 WAR over 160 ABs which rates out to over 3 wins if he was a full time regular for a whole season. Of course it's hard to say if he would have the same production if he played every day but regardless for the role he has been given he has been more than adequate.2 points

Nice man with a million stories, some he could never tell on the air. I just talked it about it on the air in Ann Arbor. I ended my break with "Jim Price was from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.......nice area". I think most people would take that as a tribute and not a joke.2 points

Most prospects don't reach their full potential. So when you trade prospects for proven talent, you are going to win most of the time. Maybin and Miller were top 10 prospects in all of baseball. While both had decent careers, neither one became a superstar. Take Torkelson for another example. 2 years ago we could've gotten a better return for him than what we could get now. Most people would be opposed to trading him, back then and right now. But hindsight might tell a different story. Of course, we will never know who we could get because he was never on the tading block. But what if the Tigers were ready to compete in 2021 like they were in 2008? (Sorry, just fantasizing about being buyers instead of sellers).1 point

I know "If Obama said that," is overdone, but if Obama said he preferred a foreign country over America, Fox would hold a five day telethon, and their anchors would literally weep about the damage he has damage to the county by saying that1 point

Everywhere I've ever voted is basically scantron and you walk it over to tabulation machine but you get a manilla folder like cover to conceal the ballot and they have you hold that envelope while you feed it into the machine. If you give a **** about hiding your vote that is. I personally don't give a rats ass if the world knows I vote against the republic party1 point

Dirks mentioned the running gag that the dozen duo had over the jersey numerals on the broadcast last night. Paraphrasing a bit but: Price: "That number still has some hits left in it. I saved some for you". Dirks: "I can't believe they're letting me wear it. It should've been retired by now." Price: "You know, that's a pretty good point. I gotta talk to somebody about that."1 point

So far I like this Turney kid who wasn't drafted. After 2 games, 1.625 OPS. So I'm thinking that Clark, Briceno, and Turney will be going into the Hall on the same day.1 point

OPS is over 800 since early June and HR every 20 AB. Hinch staying a little behind the curve on his catchers. Played Barhhart in favor of Haase too much last season. Haase has played too much over Rogers this season.1 point

I know of one he had... https://www.thedailybeast.com/ron-desantis-ally-kent-stermon-killed-himself-after-being-accused-of-sexual-misconduct-with-minor And a literally knew this because a friend of mine lived down the street from him and was facebook friends with this guy and saw some odd facebook postings tagging Ronny D's personal account in the weeks leading up to his death.1 point

I can’t express strongly enough how sad this makes me. I knew him not only as a player and a broadcaster, but as my Fantasy Camp team coach (along with Johnny Grubb) in 2008. He was a great guy, never a sharp word or tone that I ever saw, easy to talk to. Rode in a car with him and Rusty Kuntz and learned some interesting things I will never forget. He was a true gentleman. RIP Jim.1 point

Thank you for posting. Yes, Mr. Price deserves his own thread. Long time fan of listening to him and Dan Dickerson the radio. He stood in the game as long as he could. He told you how things were, esp later on. I also had the honor of meeting him at one of the Old Tiger Stadium weekend Fantasy Camps. I remember it will, him tossing some Ps to me as I swung away for some hitting practice. Then Ernie came by to sit in the dugout and talk to several participants. Northrup, Horton and others participated as well. "Late Movement" and "He put a severe buggy whip on that one" are the sayings I most remember. Peace and onto 'The Field of Dreams' Jimbo 😇1 point

FWIW, baseball execs and scouting and development staff were uniformly against this, it was the owners and MLB who pushed it through.1 point
