Going from Lake City, PA, to this one today with my son. First time at CoPa! Hope I bring the boys good luck!9 points

This was the best game I have been so since probably before the pandemic Miggy started it all with 2 outs.5 points

What an absolute amazing moment for that kid! Man if he, and the other young bucks, keep developing our offense might actually have a chance to be decent next year and beyond!4 points

It's about time the Tigers started taking the NPB seriously.3 points

I don't know how anyone could watch the Tigers regularly, observe the generally terrible throwing by almost all of their left side IFs, add to consideration that Javy Baez must make the fewest number of routine to catch throws from SS in MLB history, and not be impressed with the number of errors Tork has saved his infielders. That said, the last couple of weeks he has no-doubt been brutal misplaying the hops on some batted balls.3 points

The International League this year is ridiculous. You look at those Toledo numbers and assume they would be at the top of the IL . Instead they are middle of the pack. Juiced ball? Robo umps? Lousy pitching?2 points

We have the second most errors in all of baseball. Maybe too many players playing out of position?2 points

The potential that local election boards put forward fraudulent vote totals say in a county with a MAGA sherrif so that he gets enough to overcome Suburban districts scares me. I think we have people watching but...they aren't above trying that.2 points

Moment of the year for Dan Dickerson? https://x.com/dannydhrs/status/1695249559251791923?s=46&t=rxX1apj3uwtfqL1XE791ww2 points

Torkelson leads the majors in scoops by a lot: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=0&month=0&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=&enddate=&season1=2023&season=2023&sortcol=15&sortdir=desc&pagenum=1 What this doesn't show is exactly how many opportunities he had to make scoops but failed, although I assume those would show up as errors much of the time. What it probably does show is that he had a lot of opportunities and was successful many times.2 points

"I talked to multiple people(scouts) that have watched Jobe that told me he has the best stuff from any starting pitcher they have watched this year or last year." Also liked how he said that he believes that Jobe will end up being worthy of his draft slot, he said that we may look back and regret passing on certain guys but in general Jobe will end up being worth what we gave him and where we picked him.2 points

Definitely will be a better melt if you buy a block of cheese and grate it yourself. (Rob - Julie is RIGHT.) All the pre-grated packets of cheese have an ingredient that keeps that cheese from sticking together in the package. You will not get the same melt as when you buy a block of cheese and grate it. This is also really true with mozzarella.1 point

I think a lot of right wingers who swore off Trump after Jan 6 will go back under the guise of Bidens age and Harris being too risky. And I still worry about anti trump passion. It could be like ‘16 again where apathy is there because of the assumption Trump can’t win again. That’s why Dems need to be super aggressive. Keep bringing up abortion.1 point

hopefully they'll be more of a player in the international market1 point

I called it, but since I watched it after the fact without knowing about it, I didn't post it. I didn't want to ruin it for anyone that watched it live and then forgot about it and then started reading this thread.1 point

Jerry wants this to turn dramatic. That will mean that Lance has done something to demonstrate his potential. But what a bust for San Fran. Should be more embarrassing for them than it is but they lucked out by having Mr. Irrelevant turn out to be Mr. Competent. What might all those first round picks have done to get SF over the hump?1 point

Additionally... and I don't know if this means anything... But if Tork has gotten used to Baez's throws... at his feet, in the dirt, with whatever spin there is on them... and Baez by all accounts has given him PLENTY of reasons to get used to his particular throwing styles... Then MAYBE... if Short is also hitting the dirt in front of Tork but with different angles/ or spin/ or bounces/ etc... Then Tork is getting handcuffed by the variations. I don't want to make excuses for him. But the duress on all these throws, and there's a ****load of them if he has by far the most "in-the-dirt" chances of any 1st baseman in MLB this year.... is all on his shoulders. I'm not going to bash him for fielding. Not even for not picking up a few of these throws. Instead: I'm going to ask for better fielders and more consistent fielders (not 6 different 3rd baseman and 6 different 2nd baseman... all with different spins/ accuracy/ angles/ etc...) next year in the hops that a ****load of BETTER throws will make him look a whole lot better than he does this year. And if he's picked up 99% of these ****ty throws this year and missed 1%... by shear volume that says he's "missed" a crapload of these throws. Which, based on what I am stating above, and on what others have stated... does NOT make him a bad-fielding 1st baseman. I think, instead, that he may LOOK bad... because of what others are doing with their volume of crappy throws to 1st base. IMO.1 point

FanGraphs says they have a 1% chance to make the playoffs. That is better than the Yankees and Cardinals. I think the fact that we are even having this "what if" discussion is why teams should always put a reasonably competitive team on the field.1 point

Speaking of bike riding. This was taken today in the parking lot at the F1 race in the Netherlands. The Dutch take their bike riding seriously.1 point

Can I just say coming to this page today that this weird thread title is amusing to me. I know I came up with it under the duress of the Jan6 coup. I think I might want to get a t-shirt with this on it. (w/o the hat tip part.)1 point

Miggy being left in after his hit was odd. Must have been a mistake.1 point

Trey Lance to the Cowboys too. I wouldn’t be happy about that as a Cowboys fan. Unnecessary drama when you’re supposed to be a top five team in the NFC. I’m impressed the 9ers got a 4th round pick for someone they publicly admitted was their QB3. Of course unnecessary drama is the Jerry Jones way.1 point

So here's the thing, should that Altuve hit really have been scored an error? Looking at it again, looks like he's out by a couple steps if Short fields the ball.1 point

This is actually a fun team...........Too bad they got off to that awful start.1 point

Crazy watching twitter try and deal with this guy. Hero to the right for a week, then the left mocked him, now the left is embracing him, any day now for the right to start mocking him.1 point

I don’t know, the Tork hate is a little over the top imo. He’s improving every phase of his game, but I guess patience is in short supply. To each their own I suppose.1 point

Miggy getting robbed and then Rogers being a bonehead. And before anyone says it, I know players are taught to go on contact but you need to have a little bit of common sense. You shouldn't be running home when the ball is hit sharply right to where you know the third baseman is standing.1 point

A ton of mixed messaging across the system under Avila, made Player Dev tough... Hearing a lot better things now between Garko and Harris. Frankly, this tracks. Even last year, the system showed a lot of signs. This year has been a great year on the system, IMO. More players emerging than fading.1 point

What I remember about Bergman was as like a 6 year old either I saw it on the back of a baseball card or heard it on a telecast but it mentioned him being a stock broker on the side and in the offseason. I remember my Dad saying something like "he probably makes more money doing that than playing baseball", the only "stock" I heard of was in regards to "stocking shelves" like at a supermarket so in my head that's what I thought it was. I remember thinking "wow I didn't know the people working at Farmer Jack or Kroger's made more than baseball players". lol one of those random things from your childhood that always stuck with me and to this day I often think of Bergman anytime I hear the term stock broker.1 point
