  1. That's how it should be every year now. I want them to try to be reasonably competitive next year. I don't want to hear any more "Harris has to see what he has so they can't do anything" talk. They can try to be competitive and build for the future at the same time.

  2. You can blame the owner for that. Dan impressed me hugely last night by tearing into the ownership of the A’s and how they have neglected the park, the team, and totally screwed over the fans. He spent maybe five minutes of air time breaking the whole thing down. He was very critical of the owner, calling his name several times. I wish I could have recorded his words. Nobody anywhere could have said as much as he did so succinctly. And every syllable was the absolute truth. Yes the team is bad. But the issue all along has been the greedy owner using the team as a pawn for what he wanted. That MLB allows this is disgusting.

  3. Btw 1 more win guarantees us of a loss total in the 80s. Idk something visually about that looks so much better than 90+ losses. Like it feels like you were almost a .500 team.

  5. That's good. A franchise that isn't even trying to win should not get the #1 pick.

  8. I'm not saying he can't do anything. Of course he can do something, and I suspect he will do as much something as he can. What I'm basically saying is, I'd be surprised if he pushed all his chips in this winter and started dealing from the top of the system in exchange for established major leaguers in a long-shot bid to win a weak division next year. In any event, maybe the key to winning next year isn't trading top prospects for established major leaguers, or even signing top free agents. Maybe the key is to get more out next year of the players we have on the team and in the system already. They've poured a ton of resources into the development function for just that reason.

  14. Atlanta has only had 2 scoring drives this year that were 70 yards or more. So most of their scoring drives have been on a shortened or shorter field. If they aren't a team that drives the length of the field to score it seems to me like punting and backing them up deep in their own territory is better strategy then being super aggressive and going for it all the time.

  18. Bob & his stupid ass wife should go to jail. and I don’t want to hear any bull**** like “well let’s see what happens during the trial“. He should resign today, and he and his idiot wife should shut their mouth, go to trial, and then go straight off to the orange jumpsuits. I’m sick of this ****.

  19. How about a long reliever who pitches 2 or 3 innings per appearance? I have often wondered why there are so many regular starters who throw 150+ innings and so many relievers who throw 60-70 innings, but not so many in between (not be design anyway). I would think there are more pitchers who could thrive in roles where they pitch 40-50 games and throw around 100 innings.

  22. im not writing it off as a loss, it just seems like they are the less healthy of the two teams and that usually leads to a loss. hopefully they dont turn the ball over and atlanta does.

  28. So... As somebody a year older than Greenberg who flirted with the idea of trying to get into baseball, I have some unique thoughts. He's a guy whose dad owned the Rangers, who helped Mario Lemeiux buy the Penguins, etc. Was able to get two degrees from ivies. Was an unpaid intern for teams/MLB until he was 26, then joined the Cubs front office. Meanwhile, somebody who wasn't born into money had to pay his own way through school and racked up student loan debt couldn't possibly go the unpaid route for that long and be financially solvent. The financial necessity side of it is why I never tried to make the jump. No conclusions, just wanted to throw that out there that the infrastructure stacks the front office deck against a lot of people.
