Faedo: 4IP, 5H, 1ER, 0BB, 5K

Meadows 2-6, double, run scored

JHM 2 singles

Nevin 2-4

Toledo wins 8-2.

I may be wrong, but I don’t believe any Mud Hen SP has thrown at least 5 innings in any of the 9 games so far this season.

Nevin goes 2-4 and his AVG drops.  Life ain’t fair.

They need passable middle relievers.

Middle, ending, beginning.  Doesn’t matter, they can’t be too picky.

But my concern with the Toledo SPs not getting past 5 IP is that Detroit’s going to need starts from its 7th, 8th, 9th SPs at some point.  Sure, they shouldn’t be expected to go 8 IP once they’re promoted, but there appears to not be much depth at all in the SP bin.

Too early in the season to worry about that...

The starters will all get stretched out to 7-ish innings, pending actual in-game performances, over the next few weeks.

In Detroit, at Toledo, and don't forget at Erie too.

Wilmer Flores/Ty Madden may be our #6/7th starters before too long...

I don't have a Twitter account and I sure as hell won't get one now.   But someone who has, you need to find West Michigan Whitecaps announcer Dan Hasty calling an AB in a Caps game like it's The Masters, completely with the serenity piano music.  It's great.  Please repost it here, I can't.

faedo isnt any good.  he's a aaaa pitcher at best.  maybe gets a middle relief run and does ok.  he's not a major league pitcher.

meadows, otoh  might be something.

I wouldn't give up on Faedo.   I think there is something there.   I don't think he's a starter, but I do think he could be a plus reliever.  He's just gotta stay healthy.    He started out solid last year, but he's one of those guys that doesn't get over by the third time through the lineup, but as a reliever we actually might have something there.

Obviously you're talking long term, but it's not like this team doesn't need prospective relievers at the moment....

in 2023 should anyone be expected to go 8 ip? Seriously, the game has changed and managers and FO's that won't let go of the 1980s and organize their teams around the 5/6 inning start are going to be doomed to continue failing.... and sending pitchers to the surgical table.

Worth noting on the bullpen front that Miguel Diaz had 1 IP, 2K and is now down to a 1.59 ERA. I'm ready to see him up

I think we’ll see him once they cut Cisnero.  Diaz also had a great spring and Hinch said he was a difficult cut.

I also wonder how long until we see Lipcius for Schoop.
