How do we know that the brown M&M is a female?  By assuming that, all of the men who like to wear high heels are now offended.  In reality its a piece of chocolate candy.  It has no gender.  This is sooooo stupid and what is wrong with the the liberals in the US who want to be "woke" and the morons in these corporations that think they need to appease them..  There are so many more important things to worry about.  The country is going down the drain faster than ever because of liberals and this is news.  God help us all!

They did it because they knew the snowflakes like Tucker and other right wing nut jobs would get triggered and devote airtime to their product.  It’s advertising. Genius move by Mars.

Exactly, somehow the fact that this is news (and distracting from bigger issues) isn't the responsibility of those who are dedicating airtime to it during their "news" programming (ie. Tucker).

Incredible. But on par for the Times, they do this kinda stuff all the times. Particularly in their political reporting.

How freaking hard is it for a reporter to park themselves outside of a Meijer or Wal Mart in a middle class suburb or smaller town and get a quote on the issue that is most prevalent for average Americans?

It's just lazy as hell.

No joke. But the whole anecdote as journalism is wrong headed and is probably the most serious issue with the Times' journalism - and also as noted previously -at NPR. The shift at NYT is relatively recent though. You sense that someone at the top of the food chain sent down the dictum that all stories had to be 'about people.' The problem is that for macro-econ or political stories, that pretty negates any value they can have have, as the particular never has much informative value for the general condition.

Gillette did this a few years ago with a commercial telling young men to not be jerks.  The pseudo macho right wingers saw it as another data point for the pussification of the male species.

If Mars would have done nothing, Carlson wouldn't be talking about it and Mars wouldn't be losing customers.  The real snowflakes that need saferooms, cupcakes and puppy dogs to survive are the liberals and mainly the young liberals.  That's a bad try to deflect from your political party and its members.  Everyone knows who the reals (snow) flakes are.

This is part of the bigger problem we face.  Liberals are so worked up about what shoes a piece of fake candy is wearing in an ad and ignoring real problems. Inflation is soaring, the markets are crashing, covid is tearing through the country and thousands of Americans are dying from it and lets not forget we are being invaded on our southern border by millions of illegal aliens.  However, we have a POTUS that is more intent on trying to go to war with Russia over a country that's not even an ally.  Truth is he is a bumbling idiot that can't come up with a coherent sentence, does not have the mental capacity to dress himself and reported crapped his pants in public.  The world is laughing at us while the country is imploding from within thanks to the democrat party that everyone here is blindly following.

If you could see how much money I've lost in the first three weeks of the year it wouldn't be such a cool story.  2022 isn't starting off so good.  First with covid and now the market crashing.  Hopefully it will turn around.

apart that he has the whole thing backward. There was no looney left pushing pushing Mars to make the changes, they simply wanted to reformulate the campaign get make it more appealing to this generation. And ironically, the noise they are getting is from the looney right who are trying to cast good 'ol 'murican marketing work into some kind of woke tyranny.

Like some fat ass MAGA hat wearing goofball is going to stop buying the shareable pack of peanut butter M&M’s and eating the whole package while wearing his too small NFL jersey this weekend watching the playoffs. The same NFL he claimed he’d quit watching because of their wokeness.

A company like Mars reformulates an ad campaign for one reason only: to make money. That's it... to the extent that "virtue signaling" or "snowflakes" or whatever enters into it, it is subsidiary to the ultimate goal of making money. You say they are losing customers, but ultimately a major company has probably done market research and has determined that they can increase market share by adopting a new campaign. That's capitalism, Archie, this isn't anything new.

The bigger thing at play here, and why Tucker cannot resist the urge to waste time talking about this issue, is that cultural conservatives no longer have the same monopoly on commerce that they used to have. Companies have to market to their customer base that exists today, not what existed back in 1986 or in 2003 (ie. Leading up to the Iraq War).

At the end of the day, it's whining and crying that the society has changed and that what customers want is different than it used to be. In a capitalist society, companies need to adapt. Sorry that those adaptations don't fit your view of the world I guess... not sure what else to say.

A bit surprising. Cooper, Hayes and Maddow barely outside the green box. Meanwhile the Foxie Twins are so far out in right field even Clemente couldn't reach them

Tapper is underneath Cooper/Hayes/Maddow too.

They are all far enough outside of the green that I don't find it worthwhile to watch.

Tapper was the last weekday cable show I would watch/listen to regularly.

The latter half of the show with the talking heads panel is just terrible... I really don't care to hear what partisan randos like Nina Turner or Mary Katherine Ham or Scott Jennings think about the world. Doesnt add anything constructive whatsoever.

They were going after Carhart this week too. I don’t remember why but it was understandably stupid and ignorant.
