  2. Question. Can Trumpers honestly say that the Republican base does not practice what the (dis)Honorable Senator calls idealogical capture? And if it's illegal for a private educational institution (like Harvard) shoulda't it be illegal for another institution (like Liberty, or Hillsdale for example) who also receives federal funding?

  6. Yes. -Much better defender -2 years younger -A bit taller and bigger Downside is he's not the offensive sparkplug and movement shooter that Beasley is. His 3P% is good (38%) but not as good as Beasley (41%). You're trading that for way better defense and you hope that Ivey replaces Beasley scoring (in different ways, obviously). You also lose the chemistry that Beasley clearly has with this locker room, but that's a risk you have to take to improve at some point anyway. Bottom line, we need 2-way players.

  7. I find it really hard to believe that the guy who said multiple times he wanted to f*** his own daughter, barged into the Miss Teen USA dressing room, ogled a 10 year old and said he would be dating her in 10 years, raped E Jean Carrol, and groped dozens of women, would be involved in child sex trafficking, even though he bought the sex trafficker's airplane that he rode on 7 times.

  12. My ability to follow the Detroit Tigers has changed dramatically over 65 seasons. It once was a lonely pursuit of looking at box scores and is now a 24–7 passion in full color on TV chatting in real time with other people. Never living in Detroit itself, I originally settled for box scores in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette newspaper, a subscription to the Sporting News, maybe a dozen TV broadcasts on a Fort Wayne, IN station, and of course, the daily blessing of listening to Ernie Harwell. Yearly Sporting News baseball registers were a big deal too. As a kid my room was covered with cheaply printed black and white glossy photos of the early 60s team, and I could’ve been mistaken for a religious zealot with a wall full of icons of various saints singing with mysterious allure. I was also the only person I knew who had a passion for the Tigers. So it was a somewhat lonely pursuit. Such as having arcane hobby like collecting bugs. I was never enculturated in a vibrant, local tradition like most of you. After the amazing joy of the 1968 season and getting older, I pretty much stopped paying attention, especially when I moved to Tucson, Arizona then Boise, Idaho. I busied myself with the life of a young man. Spent every weekend in the mountains walking through carpets of flowers and enjoying the other worldly solitude of the desert. My general disinterest was only interrupted in 1984 when a group of Detroiters moved to Tucson, Arizona, and I fell in with them and for the first time in my life, I was not a lonely bug collector, but a fellow member of a religious cult and a part of a lineage, where a passion for the Tigers is passed down from generation to generation. In 2004 thanks to the Internet I discovered this site and it’s really great to feel included in something broader which was once a lonely, personal pursuit. It’s really a joy to share these last 100+ games with you.

  13. Yeah hard to believe he wouldn't sign but with that said as bad as the Angels are as a franchise they have always been known to be aggressive with prospects so there was a good chance in his and his agents eyes atleast that they'd be an ideal spot to get to the majors the fastest. I think it just boils down to the Tigers really liking Jung and his supposed advanced bat. I agree with SoCal that I think they drafted for immediate concerns instead of BPA, they probably felt that Jung could help the big league team as early as 2023. The regime probably knew their leash was short and they couldn't afford to take guys that were years away. Of course Neto ended up proving that he wasn't far away but they may have not thought that at the time.

  14. He is an excellent defensive catcher and he'll have his spot. But I also think he can expect to step aside for a pinch hitter later in games due to his offense.

  21. I know for younger music fans these days, and ones of pop music, they don't care, but I really have no respect for people who lip synch, even partially. I have seen older artists that don't hit all the notes anymore and I am fine with that. In a TV show setting, I kind of understand, but not a live one. I think it's weak

  25. I don't follw the draft as closely as some people here do, but I don't remember Jace Jung being a controversial pick when they made it, nor do I remember a lot of talk about Neto. Eleven other teams passed on Neto too. Once you get past the first few picks, the draft is a crap shoot. Look at any past draft and the majority of first rounders didn't amount to that much.

  27. I regret not going to see Rush around 2012 or something like that. Biff texted me that they had tickets on Stubhub for like $20. I was "busy" with something very unimportant now but obviously at the time a big deal. Stupid Palace. If it were in Detroit I would have went but I didnt want to add to the headache of a 45 minute drive there plus the god awful experience of trying to leave that building after a well attended event. One regret for a concert I have is INXS. Saw them in the mid 90's. My mother in law had a connection to Bill Davidson somehow and we'd sometimes get access to their suite for shows and games. We got it for INXS. Trouble is I got drunk before we even left. There was a family party with all the distant cousins going on. Beer doesn't get me drunk, vodka does. I barely remember the show. Not saying they were my favorite or anything but heck...

  28. I have a very similar "this is my lonely vigil" thing going as a transplant in Virginia. The Tigers were my link to the team that kept me going during a very difficult time growing up with an alcoholic parent and a lot of home chaos.

  40. Every seat in the US Congress may matter, but not every seat matters equally. Jim Jordan chairs the House Judiciary Committee. Marjorie Taylor Greene chairs a House DOGE subcommittee. Rashida Tlaib chairs the multiracial Mamas' Caucus. They are not anything like the same. Rashida Tlaib is a fringe character serving a fringe constituency. When she starts getting actual power, then I'll start getting concerned.
