The Tigers have gone 18–9 for an .667 Pct. against teams in the AL Central so far and have 25 remaining games against these foes. They've gone 40-25 against everyone else in baseball for a .615 Pct. They haven’t just been “beating up on their own weak division.” I don’t know if anyone credible would say that they’ve been doing this, although my son’s coworkers in Idaho have been needling him with this BS. If they had lost only two more games to Central clubs they would have a .609 intradivision winning pct. and less than what they’d achieved overall against all the rest of baseball. This team plays well against everyone.3 points

I saw that once in a high school game. Our player got hit in the leg, it glanced off him and hit the catcher in the shin guard. Then it bounced up and hit the ump in the place we don't talk about. He went down like he was shot. He was a terrible ump, none of us in the dugout were upset about that.2 points

ESPN today But Skenes is a pitcher -- and pitchers get hurt. So, if the Pirates are open to listening ... Offer No. 1: New York Mets offer SS/CF Jett Williams (No. 20), RHP Jonah Tong (No. 50), RHP Nolan McLean, IF Ronny Mauricio, OF Carson Benge Offer No. 2: Los Angeles Dodgers offer C/OF Dalton Rushing (No. 14), OF Josue De Paula (No. 17), IF Alex Freeland, RHP Emmet Sheehan, LHP Jackson Ferris Offer No. 3: Detroit Tigers offer OF Max Clark (No. 8), SS Kevin McGonigle (No. 11), RHP Jackson Jobe, IF Colt Keith, RHP Sawyer Gipson-Long The one that could get it done: Tigers. A playoff rotation with Skenes and Tarik Skubal? Thank you very much. Reminder: The Tigers haven't won the World Series since 1984.2 points

Comerica i am in you. Took a long ass walk and some flim flaming of the security guard (a kindly African America lady) who took pity on my mentally handicapped brother.1 point

Only one thing would make me trade for Skenes and that would be the premise that we would have Livy Dunne as this generation's Kate Upton.1 point

Law has us taking a Gamble (I'll see myself out). Sean Gamble Player Profile School: IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Bats: L, Throws: R Gamble is the kind of high-upside athlete Tigers scouting director Mark Conner has always favored, and the IMG Academy infielder — although I think he moves to center eventually — has such a strong commitment to Vanderbilt that I think he either goes in the first round or goes to school. I think the Tigers would take Hall if he’s here, and they could take a fast-moving college arm here like Riley Quick. They pick again at 34.1 point

Another article that is cited in that detailing Greene's new approach at the plate this year. From few weeks prior but I had not read it yet. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/riley-greenes-strikeouts-arent-a-dealbreaker/1 point

amazing athlete? undisciplined? taking ridiculous shots off schedule? the summer league was made to make guys like ace bailey look good.1 point

its joe and troy youre talking about. they dont think about abstract notions like "accumulating assets" and "future flexibility". no sir, those are nerd concepts. theyre about winning now. and winning now means one thing: a big man who can rebound! offer them duren and they'll give you herb jones and THEIR #1 pick. maybe even two if you catch them in the right mood.1 point

Not sure Beal can score enough to make up for how many points he will allow on defense. We are also pretty guard heavy. The only guard I would be looking to add now is a guy who can fill backup PG minutes. Herb Jones is a guy I would target. 6'8" and could back up both SF/PF positions. Offense isn't much to write home about, but he did shoot 41% from three two years ago. He is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. 1st team all defense two years ago and finished 5th in DPOY. The 4 guys in front of him were all bigs. Him and Ausar together would be a nightmare for other teams. There are zero reasons for New Orleans to trade him. But it's Joe and Troy, give it a shot and see what happens. I would give up a heavily protected 1st to land him. Lottery protected next year and 2027. Turns into two 2nd round picks in 2028 if it didn't already convey.1 point

I do wonder if they’re thinking the deadline will take care of some of the logjam. Between Jung, Lee, Anderson, Malloy, and even Ibanez, there are a few guys who could be part of a deal for a shutdown reliever.1 point

Odd outcomes: Montero has pitched better in Detroit than in Toledo. SGL has pitched better in Toledo than in Det. AAA results would argue SGL for the 5th spot over Montero, but it hasn't worked out that way - at least so far.1 point

Wonder if the Tigers would like to see him beat up on AA pitching prior to the trade deadline?1 point

I remember a game I was at back in 04 or 05, sitting about 10 rows back of the bullpen and Pudge hit a HR 2 rows behind me. Anyway I completely lost the ball in the sun about 3/4 of the way through but I knew it was tracking right towards us so I instinctively ducked and covered by head, the dude that it hit behind me didn't see it either and it hit his watch and destroyed it and cut up his wrist. When I got home I wanted to see the highlights just to see how pathetic I looked and luckily for me I wasn't the only one that lost it and ducked for cover. Out of the hundreds of games I've been to in my life that was probably my closest chance at a HR ball, if I didn't lose it I surely would've been able to at least get my hands on it given my height and reach.1 point

We're probably better off having Cleveland win over Houston but I still refuse to root for them.1 point

To clinch by the end of August, need to get that lead up to 24 games. Not impossible, lol. At 58-34 with 70 to go, the Tigers could go 32-38 the rest of the way and still win 90 games. Play .500 the rest of the way and they win 93. To hit 100 wins they'll need to go 42-28 the rest of the way - that's a tall order but they're on pace. The division race is over so to me the rest is all about win totals and getting the #1 or #2 AL seed.1 point

Montero (on ESPN under "Splits"): 1st time through order .699 OPS 2nd time through order .855 OPS 3rd time through order .910 OPS But I think his biggest problem is consistency... when he's having control problems or 1 of his 2 good pitches aren't working, he's terrible. When everything is working and he's hitting the strike zone... He pitches gems... Just an observation.1 point

We're at 58 wins. We could be the first team to 60 wins. And getting to 60 wins before the All Star break? Amazing...1 point

Not the worst idea. But would you do it for older guys too? SGA was supposed to get a 30% max deal. He qualified for the 35% super max instead. Would you also count that as 30%? I would think you have to if you are doing it for the younger guys.1 point

Underrated overrated, it doesn’t really matter because any analysis is just a point in time along the development curve, and no one really knows how much anyone is going to progress and develop and adapt. It’s just a guess, some more educated than others.1 point

He’s a prospect. Most wash out and most won’t even reach their ceilings. However, when they do, it’s exciting, but I doubt anyone can reliably predict who it’s going to be. That’s why you collect as many as you can.1 point
