No lie, I’ll be talking to my friends/associates whom I know lean Dem, and if I hear any of them talking about staying home, I’ll be knocking on the door with a pizza and a beer and I’ll drive them there. And if the pizza doesn’t work, I’ll make ‘em an offer they wouldn’t / couldn’t / shouldn’t refuse. 😎5 points

Greene and Tork need to average the elevation on their swings between them and they'd both be about right.....Problem sovled.2 points

Not a hint of irony here I love seeing McKinstrey, Maton, Carpenter, Vierling and Baddoo all in the lineup on the same day. We may still get shutout or something but I rather see them than Cabrera, Schoop Haase etc.2 points

Others have made this point, but, yes, Biden's age in a vacuum might be a detriment; but when you get down to the binary choice and compare him to Trump and the MAGA craziness, his age will become an asset. Do you want constant chaos? Or a boring old man? We made the right choice in 2020; I pray we do again.2 points

When pitchers come back from TJ surgery, their arms are stronger than before and the breaking pitches will break differently and it takes time to adjust. I wouldn't worry too much, Spence was kind of expected to go through this.2 points

Is Bill Belichick really the best coach ever? I'll make the case that he has not done anything without Tom Brady, even in mid career, when Tom went down in the first game for the season, that was the one year when they did not win the division (in Bill's defense they did go 11-5 with Matt Cassell, but finished in 2nd place). Plus there is another thing to consider. The cheating. We know he's been caught a few times, but to me, I think he was a serious cheater. I believe this because he got caught taping Bengals practices...........the Bengals were the worst team in football at the time. If he's cheating against the worst team, wouldn't it stand to reason he's cheating against the good ones? Plus there has been an issue with communications devices (QB headsets) failing to work at Foxboro. If the visitors devices go down, they have to cut off the home team's as well. But don't you think that the Patriots would have some sort of plan for that, a contingency because they KNOW this will happen in certain close games. Teams have talked about their headsets malfunctioning at that stadium and it always seems to happen in close games, too. You could say Bill & Brady needed each other, but Brady kind of showed that wasn't really true as he won a Super Bowl with a second-level head coach and offensive coordinator that might have been overrated due to Brady. Plus you look at the Bill Belichick coaching tree. Not very successful, in fact, wrought with failure, as we know all-too-well ! Bill is being watched now, he can't get away with the crap he used to and wouldn't you know, the Patriots haven't been very successful. Was Bill's genius his coaching or his scheming? (and I don't mean game-plan scheming). I am shocked he hasn't walked away yet. He's like an SNL skit, running on long after the joke was over. He's looking like Miggy last few years. The AFC East is licking their chops right now, ready to bury them in last place. It would take an epic failure by one of those teams to not have that happen. I think he's a good coach, but I think he's a bit of a fraud too. I think Chuck Noll was probably the best coach of all time. Tom Landry's up there too. Vince Lombardi's name is on the trophy, but his brief stint in Washington wasn't very successful. Noll took over the Steelers at a time when the Steelers were a very Lionesque joke and turned them around in 3 years and put them on a permanent path of relevance, long after his departure.1 point

Baez, Schoop and Cabrera are the guys getting paid big money to provide offense and they are failing miserably. I can't fault the young kids who should probably be at AAA. I am worried that years of control are potentially wasted right now on a team that isn't competing for anything.1 point

I think criticism of and concern about Greene and Torkelson are warranted. Greene was OK for a rookie last year, but is bad so far this year. Torkelson has not gotten results either year. Sure, he hits the ball hard, but until he starts getting results, it is concerning.1 point

all good points, but goff was coming off two really bad seasons in a row. he also didnt look so hot in a few games early this year. i dont think they'll take a qb in round one but the argument would be to take the risk that one of them will be better than goff. as the game turns towards more mobile qbs, you may want to have one that provides that additional element to your offense that goff does not provide. i like goff too. the only guys i would potentially take would be young and richardson. but honestly, i go back and forth all the time.1 point

not ground balls though. The difference between chest high and over the IF's head is probably a millimeter. Put it this way - What he is doing with the bat shows a player closer than anyone else on this team to actually being a good hitter.1 point

playoff basketball is fun because theyre actually trying. i dont really mind the playin games for the same reason (even though the playin games can be really bad basketball at times). gs sactown has been really fun to watch. jimmy butler singlehandedly beating a hobbled giannis was fun too.1 point

Everybody says Belichick is nothing without Brady but Belichick is the one who took the chance on Brady and developed him. It's not like the Patriots lucked into the 1st overall pick and Brady was the generational talent coming out. Does Belichick get no credit for developing Brady?1 point

I actually like Minnesota's offer the best. I don't think Minnesota will be as good next year and possibly a mid to early first round for next year sounds very enticing. There is a lot they can do with this draft as well and move up.1 point
-
If Stroud's floor was Goff or Ryan, he'd be a generational prospect. He's far from that. That's most likely his ceiling, a top 10 NFL QB but not an elite NFL QB. I'm using that pick as a trade chip if he drops to 6, have little interest in taking him.1 point

People always get caught up on the physical attributes of quarterbacks, when the biggest separators seem to be the ability to quickly process and read the defense, and get the ball to a spot on time. Marginal athletes with marginal arms who can do that can be successful, while great athletes with cannons who can't, wash out.1 point

Kerry Carpenter should get the win. He’s the guy who made it happen.1 point

And inevitably a RHP will enter the game at some point. Dropping him lower in the lineup, maybe he only sees 2 PAs vs a LHSP and then its on to RHRPs.1 point

It took us 43 games in each of last 2 seasons to get double digit wins so as long as we avoid a 10 game losing streak we'll atleast beat that mark this year!1 point

Oh, yeah, he’s still just above High A so he will hit a rough patch, and probably sooner than later. But he is showing a tremendous amount of poise for a kid of his age/experience and is coming through big in some big situations. It’s an encouraging career start.1 point

He made it so this will look dumb. But I hate when teams are down 1 or tied and they don't get the ball within 35 feet of the basket. He just took a 40 footer down one that you probably make 33% of the time.1 point

Stroud has a better arm, is a better athelete, and would be about 33m cheaper for the next 4 years. Slightly is understating it a bit. Plus Goff would have trade value next year as well. From 2019-2021 Goff had QBR's in the mid 20's when the talent around him was mediocre to below average. Put Goff In a situation where he has to create on his own and he has proven he cannot perform. That said there is a risk involved with drafting any QB so I understand not wanting to take a risk unless they are super confident in whom they are drafting. And at 6 it's they may not be. I think they can win with Goff In the short term, it's just when they have to start paying some of their good young players where it may be hard to sustain.1 point
